The project is expected to support around 20,000 construction jobs and create approximately 8,000 operational jobs once open.
It presents a huge opportunity for local businesses like as yours, both during construction and long after the resort opens.
Large projects rely on extensive supply chains, creating opportunities not just for those in construction & trade, but also those businesses that support them, from professional services and logistics to catering, marketing and technology. No business is too small to make a difference.
By building relationships and positioning yourselves early, your business can become an important part of a project that is expected to bring significant economic growth to our region for years to come.
Many smaller businesses like yours assume they need a direct contract with Universal to benefit. In reality, many opportunities will come through the wider supply chain. Universal’s procurement team has specifically stated that business size is not the key factor and you should not discount themselves because you have not previously worked on a theme park project.
To position your business for future opportunities:
Register your interest as a supplier through Universal’s supplier registration process. Register below using the Universal United Kingdom Resort Supplier Interest Form.
Attend Chamber of Commerce events and networking sessions where Universal representatives, main contractors and professional services firms are present. Many of these are free to members of Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce
Build relationships with principal contractors already appointed to the project, as they will require extensive subcontractor and supplier support. Here is a list of those currently appointed as principle contractors.
Prepare your business documentation, including health and safety policies, certifications, case studies and examples of previous work, as these have been highlighted as areas prospective suppliers should have ready.
Focus on transferable skills and relevant experience. Universal has indicated that you do not need theme park experience and may have suitable expertise from other industries.
